You can call me Kay.

I typically don’t lead with what I “do,” but I suppose this is the place for that. I am an award-winning educator, practitioner, and activist. My passion is rooted in being an abortion doula, organizer, writer, professor, scholar, artist, and communications professional. I am working overtime to be the Beyoncé of academia. I enjoy making my classrooms feel like safe spaces, so my teaching style is compassionate, thoughtful, and encouraging. I write as a form of therapy, and I enjoy writing poetry and prose.

I am a doctoral candidate at Virginia Commonwealth University who investigates how digital misogynoir impacts Black women and Non-binary folks and looks at the ways that they create harm reduction online. I also research how Black girls create sites of joy on platforms like Tiktok, hip-hop feminism, online gender-based violence, survivor justice, and reproductive justice.

I am deliberate and afraid of nothing. - audre lorde

I am passionate about many things but one thing I stand by most is personal sovereignty. I use my sovereignty to impact, educate, and amplify those in my community.

Hit me up! This website is a brief look into who I am and what I have to offer the world. I am using it as a way to chronicle my journey and to keep people updated on what I have going on.
