Scholarship

My research delves into the realm of online gender-based violence, with a particular focus on misogynoir in digital spaces and its impact on Black women, as well as Black nonbinary, agender, and gender-variant individuals. I explore how these groups navigate and mitigate harm online. Specifically, I analyze the ways in which Hip Hop artists like Megan Thee Stallion employ their performances, music, and social media presence to cope with and reduce the effects of violent online experiences. Drawing on Hip Hop feminist pedagogy, I develop curricula tailored for various academic contexts. Additionally, I am interested in Black girlhood studies, Black popular culture, and Black digital culture.
